The Stage

Archaeologists from MOLA prepare to start the detailed excavation of Shakespeare's Curtain Theatre, which will be uncovered and preserved at the heart of The Stage, a new development in London's Shoreditch which will include homes shops and offices as well as a visitor centre, cultural and performance space and public areas including a new urban park.

The Curtain Theatre is one of Shakespeare's oldest playhouses, where Henry V is believed to have premiered and other plays such as Romeo and Juliet were also performed.
